Dearest fans, followers, and beloved members of the Clockwork Flock, we are thrilled (and more than just a little bit terrified) to announce that Silicon Dreams is coming to Kickstarter on April 7th!

We’ve been working really hard for the last month to make this a project worth your time and hard-earned currency. If you choose to support us, we’ve got an awesome selection of swag and goodies lined up to enhance not only your life, but your experience of Silicon Dreams!

You will, of course, be able to purchase a key for the game (which includes all future DLC/character packs, FOR FREE!). If you want to really go above and beyond, other tiers will include beta access, Kronos Robotics product brochures, business cards, a companion pen-and-paper story-game, notebooks for all of your diagnostic needs, and more! Specific details about each reward will be coming in the next days and weeks.

Why Kickstarter?

As Silicon Dreams is our first game together as an official studio, the original plan was to make a very small game in a few months to test the waters. However, development has progressed very smoothly and along the way we realized that with a little support from our fans, we could make this game even more amazing!

y?

Do not fear, this game will be made whether the Kickstarter succeeds or not! You will be able to play our sweet, sweet, cyberpunk android-interrogation game before the year is out. We’ve chosen Kickstarter because we have a lot of ideas about how to make the experience a deeper and richer one, but we simply can’t take the risk of devoting the additional development time necessary without a sign from you, our fans, about how badly you want it.

We have some stretch goals planned that will be revealed as previous goals are met, but I can give you some exclusive insider tips about what to expect.

  • Interruption Mechanics! So you’ve asked this troublesome android a question and she’s just going on and on about how terrible her life is? Interrupt her and change the direction of the interrogation!
  • Modding tools! We know that we can make awesome stories, but we also know that you’re a real creative bunch. We want to add tools to the game that will allow you to easily create your own characters, dialogue, and stories and make them available for others to play! (Yay modding community! ^_^)
  • More characters! We’re planning to release a cast of 10 characters with the base game (an estimated 12 hours of gameplay with tons of replay value!) But with your support we can both expand the characters in the base game and create themed DLC/Character packs with their own storylines, either expanding upon, or adding to the story of Silicon Dreams.
  • There’s lots more planned, but we can’t just give away all of our secrets, now can we? 😉

The crown-wearing elephant in the room…

The whole world is going topsy-turvy. Like a lot of people, we’ve been keeping pretty close tabs on this Coronavirus situation. We’ve had this Kickstarter planned for some time now and despite all of this effort, we took a BIIIG step back to re-analyze our decisions, and even nearly decided to cancel in light of the global situation.

After even more thought, planning, and more than a few lengthy discussions, we came to the fortunate realization that we are still in a position to run this project. Unlike some other, more heavily affected industries, we don’t need to cancel this lovely project of ours and we want to get it into your hands! Even if you can’t watch the costumed people make the ball go zoom, at least you can have a nice sit-down with some malfunctioning androids.

Great! Now what do?

If you’ve read this far, I’m going to assume you’re on board and want to help! Here are some ways you can help us plzkthxbye.

We’re going live April 7th, 6pm UTC (UK time). Keep an eye out for when that happens, and if you have some spare change please back us when it goes live! We want as much momentum out of the gate as possible.

Sharing and retweeting our posts when we launch would also be a big, big, CHONKY help: we’re a teeny studio without a lot of social media reach, and most games press aren’t as interested in Kickstarters as full-on game launches, so the campaign will sink or swim based on your support.

Please follow us on Twitter and sign up to our newsletter! You’ll be guaranteed to be in the loop about any news and updates – including but not limited to, the launch announcement, news and updates, and all the glorious blog posts that we have in the works about the game, our inspirations, details about backer rewards, and character profiles!

Actually, if you like the sound of those blog posts, we made one recently about Jamie’s inspirations for the game (psst it has more than a little to do with Blade Runner in case that wasn’t obvious).

We are exciiiiited!!!

We’re thrilled to be launching this Kickstarter after planning it for a while, even if the timing is pretty strange. Obviously we have no idea how this will go, but we hope you’ll join us on this confusing journey!
