Hello to the flock! I’ve been working on a few things behind the scenes – but one of them is ready to see the light of day!
It’s a continuation of my work with Causa Creations, another Viennese studio. Years ago, they launched Sefirot, a board game that used Tarot cards, and they designed an entirely new Tarot deck with gorgeous art and gold foiling and edging.

One cool detail is that the deck has a setting: the island city of Dioscoria, a mystical land of outcasts, misfits, gambling, and spiritual wisdom. The deck itself is part of this place: a recreation of a “lost” Dioscorian deck from the sixteenth century.
Unfortunately Causa haven’t been able to reprint the deck with its original gold; a shame, because it feels… special? Luxurious? Sacred? It was real good, is what I’m saying.
Until now! Introducing Sefirot: the Gilded Legacy.

Now on Kickstarter!
Is this just a lazy reprint of an old deck? Not in the least! There is so much stuff: all of it gorgeous, and most of it new!
- I’m lead writer for the Opus Aureum guidebook: a weighty tome written in the voice of a Renaissance scholar analysing the deck. We’ll delve into the deeper resonances of the cards, the history of their symbolism, and how Dioscorians think and feel about the deck.
- New divination tools at higher tiers. Generate readings by casting coins instead of drawing cards! (I’m designing the divination system too.) Carry a talisman of intuition and wisdom.
- The highest tiers have some luxurious items: wax seals, scented divination candles, and an old Dioscorian tale on a sealed scroll.

The Opus Aureum, which I am very much looking forward to writing.
I’m thrilled to get back to the world of Dioscoria; it’s been a real joy to revisit every time, and to deepen the setting and my understanding of it. Yesterday I had a breakthrough insight about the Minor Arcana, laid out my deck on the floor in a mandala, and saw something about this deck I’d never suspected before. It feels like a place – and a body of work – that keeps on giving, and I’m delighted I get to keep coming back.
If you already have the original golden deck, you should still check out the campaign: you could pick up the Opus Aureum guidebook for less than €30. That’s a lot of lore for your buck! Plus, some of the stretch goals will involve brand new cards.
Anyway, I’m going to get back to my Tarot research. Wish us luck, and see you on the other side!
